Mayor’s Fitness Council Kickoff Event

It was a great honor to be a part of the Mayor’s Fitness Council Kickoff Event today at Woodlawn Park!  Many organizations in our community (including Flexible Fitness, San Antonio Sports, YMCA, H.E.B., Spectrum Clubs, Gold’s Gym, etc.) came out to encourage a positive movement of healthy living in San Antonio.  The event was so much fun!  There were numerous Zumba and Tae Kwon Do classes, as well as lot of freebies (from water bottles, T-shirts, and pedometers, to various kinds of health screenings). However, a major highlight of this event for me was meeting Mayor Julian Castro.  I was able to share with him my vision for helping the city of San Antonio become more fit, and we are in agreement on how we can achieve this change.  As Mayor Julian Castro said, “San Antonio did not arrive at this point overnight.  We can change, but we must do it as a community by providing people with resources, opportunities, and tools they need to make fitness, and healthy eating a part of their daily lives.”  Thus, there will be many more health and fitness events to come sponsored by both Flexible Fitness and the Mayor’s Fitness Council.
